Waterford Estate | Visit Stellenbosch

Waterford Estate is situated in the picturesque Blaauwklippen area of Stellenbosch with panoramic mountains and luscious vineyards to create a beautiful backdrop.

You know you are in for a treat when you drive pass rolling green lawns, perfect for a picnic under the trees, a water feature to add to the ambience and rows of citrus orchids to complete the picture.

The centerpiece of the courtyard is the iconic fountain that features on the wine labels, surrounded by trees, tables and comfortable couches offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of today’s busy lifestyle. There is nothing as soothing as sitting under the trees, sipping on wine and enjoying a delicious antipasto platter filled with cured meats, cheese, bread and local produce. It sets a feeling of being transported to one of Italy’s most beautiful villages.

A beautiful rose gold in colour. Aroma is minerally driven with delicate raspberry fruit undertones. The well integrated acid leads to an elegantly tangy textured mouth feel.

The Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from vineyards in Elgin, a terroir well-suited for the growth of Sauvignon Blanc, with its slightly cooler and more elevated climate.

Notes of black fruit, spice and a savoury earthiness that follows through in the palate for an impressive Cabernet Sauvignon that is smooth and well-refined. Well-textured tannins, a balancing acidity and long finish.

“GREAT WINES ARE BORN FROM THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE PLANT, SOIL AND CLIMATE OF A SPECIFIC SITE, TOGETHER WITH THE CREATIVE ART OF WINEMAKING AND BLENDING. THIS IS OFTEN A TIMELESS PURSUIT, BUT WHEN IT COMES TOGETHER, THE REWARD IS ETERNAL”
– Kevin Arnold

SALT at Waterford Estate

Craig Cormack and Beau du Toit of SALT are creating mouthwatering dishes at the courtyard restaurant at the estate. I met both of them before at various food and wine pairing events. Delicious food that is full of flavour and a culinary delight.
