Webersburg Estate – Unwind in the Winelands

? Webersburg Wine Estate

Webersburg Wine Estate is a boutique wine estate and an ancient Cape Dutch farmhouse perched on the magnificent slopes of Helderberg Mountains in Stellenbosch.

Dating back to 1693, the farm’s old name was Groenerivier, later changed to Webersburg Wines. The Cape Dutch homestead and the historic cellar were built in 1786, currently owned by the Weber family. Fred Weber, the owner, converted the winery into a state-of-the-art wine estate combining with two centuries-old winemaking traditions.

Focusing on limited but premium production, the Weber family delivers high-end red, white, rose, and sparkling wines under WO Stellenbosch and WO Western Cape labels. Some of the grape varieties of Webersburg include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Webersburg Rosé 2019

? Webersburg Rosé 2019

“Our Rosé comes from the warm tropical Stellenbosch region. We use 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to produce this beautiful Salmon pink, dry Rosé. The predominant soil types in this region comprises of decomposed shale. The annual rainfall in Stellenbosch is around 673mm per annum. Harvest of the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that is used for our Rosé comes from our lower blocks of vineyards, closer to the valley, due to the fruit profile and lower sugar content. We start harvesting this the same time as the other Cabernet Sauvignon blocks due to the lower sugar levels (balling) around the beginning of March. This is all weather dependant as we only pick the grapes when the Balling levels are satisfactory for the varietal.”
